Finally done!

I started this quilt 6 years ago and it is now quilted. Hopefully I can get the binding on this tomorrow. I got it from Marcia Hohn's site, quiltblocksgalore. I love how it turned out. I kept with the leaf and spiral theme. I used Suzanne's Meandering Magic in the background, leaf and spiral in the inner border and a leafy vine in the outer border.

Tomorrow I'm loading my scrappy bargello that
I got from Bonnie Hunter's blog. I also did mine
in all homespuns.....didn't even put a dent in mine.
I'll have to see what other quilts I can make with them.

Tuesdays musings

Yesterday was John's 54th birthday. The girls in the office were going to take him to lunch at a local Mexican place but the main instigator came down with a cold so they postponed it till today. They invited me along telling John that he didn't need to go as long as I went.

Putting my browns 4 Patch 9 (I think that's what it's called) that I got off Marchia Hohn's site (quiltblocksgalore) that I started maybe 6 years ago. Still hoping something to do in the background will jump out at me but no luck so far. I'm leaning towards Suzanne's Meandering Magic.

Got Christian's dump truck quilt done, just have to bind it now. I still have ones for his sister and brother to do yet. The only patterns for the Kids Kwilts I have left are an ice cream cone and unicorn. Had to ask my sis in law what the kids names were because I can't find my notebook that I wrote them down in.

Starting getting pain in my lower back.....just a little nagging ache.......on Saturday. Went shopping with my dil and grandbabies on Sunday and picked up the 3 year old (that boy can sure throw some hissies.......wonder who he is related to??) and now my back hurts like hell. Had John rub me down with Biofreeze and it helped a little.

Well, off to work, lunch, shopping for the grandbabies school supplies then back to quilting.

Happy Sunday

I've been working on the grandmothers flower garden/tile floor from Mark Lipinski's blog (what happened to him anyhow?? He hasn't posted anything new since July 18th) It's coming along. Not sure how I'm going to finish the outside edge. Have decided however that I don't like the way the red extends so I'm thinking of adding a straight white border all the way around.

Just finishing up "Loads of Love". One of my kustom kids kwilts with a dump truck. Kinda stuck on the borders and background so I came up with this new stippling pattern (new to me) and a different kind of CC for the inner border. I may have to do this again. Pretty cool for a boys quilt without doing the usual leaves or
other kind of fill.

I hope everyone has a great week.

Wednesday already??

This morning I go to get my stitches out......whoo hoo!! They have been driving me nuts the last couple days.

Was looking through my boxes for a backing for a quilt and came across this UFO (unfinished object) and figured I go ahead and finish it. What the heck, it's only 6 years old!! Now to figure out how to quilt it!!?? I got this pattern from quiltblocksgalore.com and loved it. Unfortunately, it was before I discovered glue. I used a light weight fusible and the bottom is stiff as a board. I know better now.

I hope everyone has a great week.

Sunday

Sunday's are boring!!
My daughter came down yesterday to go shopping. She needed linens and things for her new house and couldn't find them where she lives (right across the border in Arizona) We also went through a bunch of stuff I got tired of cleaning around. Her truck is pretty well full. Then she left this morning. Really hated seeing her go. I really miss having her around.

Working on finishing the tile GFG (grandmother's flower garden) from Mark's blog. I'm half way around the outer edge with the red now......only 40 more hexagons to go!! I have no idea what I will do with this when I get done.......maybe a table topper. Maroon and blue aren't exactly my colors tho. Who knows, maybe I'll give it away on my blog!!!

Hope everyone has a marvelous week.

Sad News

Our little Prince lost his battle with an upper respritory infection last night. I went to give him his meds at 8, and he was very cold and didn't want to wake up. At 10, when we went to go to bed, we went in to check on his steam vaporizer and he was gone. So out to the back yard to get the shovel.
I'm going to miss all the bonding and skritchie time!!

Here are a couple things I've been working on. The first is my rendition of a tile floor that Mark Lipinski put on his blog back in March. Still have a long way to go on it. The second is a baby quilt using my "Outside In" pattern for a customer. It's being quilted today.

Last night I didn't get to sleep till after midnight. Crying for my baby and I sleep on my left side but with 2 incisions and a sore ear, I had to try to sleep on my right side. It's hard to get used to. Today will most certainly be a nap day!
Hopefully, today will be better.

The days events

Started by taking my 7 month old cockatiel, Prince, to the vet. He's been eating and drinking fine but he has had a cold, sleeping a lot and very listless. He is dehydrated, malnourished, his lungs don't look right, stress breathing and he has a mysterious spot on the xray. I could have put him in the hospital in an incubator but Lord knows for how long. I would rather keep him with me so that God forbid, he passes, I want him to know that he is with the people that love him and are doing their best to fight for his life. He is on an antibiotic and I am feeding and forcing water every 2 hours. If anyone reads this, please pray for his speedy recovery. I don't know if I can stand the loss of another one of my babies. Yeah I know, he's just a bird!!

Then I had to rush to my own dr's appointment. He took a healthy chunk out of my cheek. It's on the left cheek next to my nose. He originally took a scraping back in 1999 and it was precancer. It had turned scabby so he took a biopsy and it was indeed Basal Cell but he didn't get enough of it so had to go back in and take a deeper cut. Basal Cell Carcenoma is a non invasive type of skin cancer. There were 2 spots really close together but he didn't want to take the smaller one because he wouldn't have had enough skin to close and it would have pulled down my lower lid. He opted, for now, to take a scraping, see how it goes and maybe later on decide to take it off.

Anyhow, that's how my day has gone. Hope you all have had better.

Sunflower 9 Patch

This is finally done! Started it in January for my DIL, Lisa, Birthday. Ok so I'm a little late!! She will now get it as a Christmas present. It took 20 hours to quilt, 120" square with a 10" border. All the applique was done on the longarm. I just hope she takes care of it.
I bought a king size quilt (really a queen) at the Pottery Barn in Murphrysborro, Tn while on vacation for $16.99. I am going to put it on the frame and put some more quilting on it. It's a very simple star medallion with only SID so I want to spice it up a little.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend.

The Road Trip of Your Life

You see romantic love as what's most important in life. A deep connection with someone else is the primary thing you crave.

Your life is quite hectic. You try to slow down when you can, but it's not easy!

You don't like a lot of risk or randomness in your life. You prefer to stick with what's known, even if it's a bit boring.

You are able to find a fairly healthy balance between work and play. You work when you need to, but you never let yourself burn out.

In another life, you could have been a great artist. You trust your creative instincts enough to let them lead you.
