<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xf0rLxFo8CU/UyNuerKrAhI/AAAAAAAAA60/V4xH4KCpi0Y/s1600/customer+quilts+004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xf0rLxFo8CU/UyNuerKrAhI/AAAAAAAAA60/V4xH4KCpi0Y/s1600/customer+quilts+004.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hk5oi4C7gZ8/UyNugqPfQTI/AAAAAAAAA68/cHTIsr4gvWM/s1600/customer+quilts+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hk5oi4C7gZ8/UyNugqPfQTI/AAAAAAAAA68/cHTIsr4gvWM/s1600/customer+quilts+005.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
This one needed a panto and I had nothing that would work so I took the flower from this bottom picture<br />
and made a panto out of it. I think it came out great.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_tIXUBzP58k/UyNuzZJ7_qI/AAAAAAAAA7E/bJY1MCbsnRk/s1600/customer+quilts+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_tIXUBzP58k/UyNuzZJ7_qI/AAAAAAAAA7E/bJY1MCbsnRk/s1600/customer+quilts+006.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
This is the panto I came up with. I call it Plumaria.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xZ28KfVJH10/UyNvBfWdUjI/AAAAAAAAA7M/IDzInuArkw0/s1600/customer+quilts+009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xZ28KfVJH10/UyNvBfWdUjI/AAAAAAAAA7M/IDzInuArkw0/s1600/customer+quilts+009.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OZmvLG8XKhM/UyNvEElY13I/AAAAAAAAA7U/gLkmjprz2kU/s1600/customer+quilts+010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OZmvLG8XKhM/UyNvEElY13I/AAAAAAAAA7U/gLkmjprz2kU/s1600/customer+quilts+010.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eDlSwBKE3ds/UyNvH_et99I/AAAAAAAAA7c/32zMdWPru3Y/s1600/customer+quilts+011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eDlSwBKE3ds/UyNvH_et99I/AAAAAAAAA7c/32zMdWPru3Y/s1600/customer+quilts+011.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
I didn't want to give this one back. I love Civil War prints.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-a3CbWEtBi6Y/UyNvYt2hpWI/AAAAAAAAA7k/CpJNHMkSTDg/s1600/customer+quilts+015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-a3CbWEtBi6Y/UyNvYt2hpWI/AAAAAAAAA7k/CpJNHMkSTDg/s1600/customer+quilts+015.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
As you can see , this one started out as a real headache.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SkfiZvnMPFQ/UyNvl43tCNI/AAAAAAAAA7s/iCiPOFAq0b8/s1600/customer+quilts+016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SkfiZvnMPFQ/UyNvl43tCNI/AAAAAAAAA7s/iCiPOFAq0b8/s1600/customer+quilts+016.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3FEElsiOnkc/UyNvoQg6X0I/AAAAAAAAA70/r3LfxTCYWPE/s1600/customer+quilts+017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3FEElsiOnkc/UyNvoQg6X0I/AAAAAAAAA70/r3LfxTCYWPE/s1600/customer+quilts+017.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
But I think I did a pretty good job of beating it into submission.<br />
I hope everyone has a great weekend.<br />

<br />
As some of you may know, my daughter is an Army Captain stationed at the hospital at Ft. Stewart, Georgia.<br />
I told her I was quilting a QOV (quilts of valor, quilts given to wounded soldiers) she wanted to know why they don't get any. So I started out to make quilts for them. In the last month I have 4 done. The first one was made with blocks that a friend made. I put them together with some solid white and quilted a star that I found on clip art. I went over each line several times with gold thread to make them stand out.<br />
The second one was a quilt that was left over from ones we made for Katrina victims and the last 2 were made up with 2 1/2" strips and squares.<br />
We will deliver them when we go out on the 23rd.<br />

I got the borders put on the last one and will get it quilted and bound tomorrow.<br />
I am asking/begging for red, white and blue fabric. If you have any to spare would you please consider donating it? I love what I'm doing but there is no way I can do it alone.<br />
If you have some to donate, please message me for my address and thank you very much in advance.Desert Threadshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03795059955897385589noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-600069509988468090.post-76722166226396278612012-11-01T10:50:00.002-07:002012-11-01T10:50:33.859-07:00More patternsHere are a few more of the patterns that I designed. <br />
This is a site I just joined for professionals to show off their blogs and their wares. I came across it from another quilter and thought it was very interesting. When you have time, grab a cup of coffee and sit a while looking it over.<br />
<br />
For a while, I am going to start posting pictures of the quilt patterns I have for sale (or anything else new that I come up with). Here are a couple for today.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hWJf8XnXY9A/UI8Xz_j-n3I/AAAAAAAAA3w/dcvbCTbWVng/s1600/pattern+pamphlet+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hWJf8XnXY9A/UI8Xz_j-n3I/AAAAAAAAA3w/dcvbCTbWVng/s320/pattern+pamphlet+001.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">"LOVE IN BLOOM"</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mItlmxwWrSU/UI8X4YPK_XI/AAAAAAAAA34/wHuIH_E8twE/s1600/pattern+pamphlet+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mItlmxwWrSU/UI8X4YPK_XI/AAAAAAAAA34/wHuIH_E8twE/s320/pattern+pamphlet+002.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">"LOVE GROWS HERE"</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ljZmneHgeho/UI8X6STTT4I/AAAAAAAAA4A/g8qXhdB9Aq0/s1600/pattern+pamphlet+003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ljZmneHgeho/UI8X6STTT4I/AAAAAAAAA4A/g8qXhdB9Aq0/s320/pattern+pamphlet+003.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">"GARDEN TRELLIS"</td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Almost all the patterns are designed for beginner or advanced quilters and most come with multiple size options. All patterns have been tested for accuracy.<br />
<br />
I hope everyone has a great week.<br />

I saw a wavy border treatment that I really liked but had a really hard time doing it freehand so I came up with a ruler to do it a lot more uniform. It will come in 2 sizes (patent pending). I used the smaller one yesterday on a little charity quilt I put together. The muslin strips were finished at 5". The squares I already had were cut at 3 1/2".<br />
<br />
This ruler is really easy to use but does have to be flipped every other time.<br />
They will be available through Leslie Allen at finishedquiltingstudio.com in West Virginia. <br />

The blocks are only 8 3/4" and the border is 10".<br />
I would appreciate any ideas you may have.<br />

<br />
Wanted to show you all that have looked, what I decided to do. Thank you Donna for the suggestions.<br />
The reason I went with piano keys is that the colored squares break up the light border.<br />
I wanted to do 1/4" quilting in the blank space but didn't like it by itself so I did a little curvy thingy. <br />

It's a center panel with some plain and a pieced border. She wanted something simple but I talked her into letting me do what I wanted. I love how it turned out.<br />

Our granddaughter, Jessica, starts school next Wednesday. We have everything she needs. The neighbor moved out (school teacher) and gave us enough school supplies to supply 4 families, I bought her 2 new pair of shoes, and Joe took her over for orientation this morning. She may choose to join Civil Air Patrol. I hope so. It can really make a difference to her future.<br />
<br />
I hope everyone has a great week.<br />

I have a very boring life.......busy but boring.<br />
I just finished the 6th quilt for a group of ladies. I will only post pics of one of them, the most beautiful and the one that took the longest.<br />
Now I can get back to some of the UFO's I found (from 12+ years ago) and back to the charity quilts for CPS. I really missed being able to do those. Right now I only have 3 ready to go.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And of course one of my little helpers, Bear. This is how he lays.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VmU0aHyVCyQ/UBqpQrB7LTI/AAAAAAAAA1I/u3GWzjvPaxc/s1600/storm+brewing+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VmU0aHyVCyQ/UBqpQrB7LTI/AAAAAAAAA1I/u3GWzjvPaxc/s320/storm+brewing+005.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
My friend has to go out of town frequently for her job so I have been taking her husband down to Riverside for his radiation treatments. They have been very dear friends for years and Brian is from Scotland and I love hearing him talk. I keep them both in my prayers that all goes well.<br />
We now have our 13 year old granddaughter living with us. It's a treat to have her here. I taught her the basics of knitting and she has taught herself much more since. She has also been teaching herself to crochet.<br />
She is a quick learner and smart as a whip. She will start school the 22nd and her school is right across the street. Convenient.<br />
I hope everyone has a great week. <br />

Now to find borders. This quilt was to pay for Bear but I ended up not having to pay for him so the blocks went into my UFO pile along with all the rest. He was 2 months old at the time, he is now 9 1/2 months old.<br />
When finished, this one will be added to the "for sale" pile.<br />
I also quilted our last 2 guilds BOM tops and finished several charity quilts for our guild.<br />

I will show you an easy way to divide any size block evenly.<br /><br />Here is an 8" block that I want to make into a Monkey Wrench. What is the measurement for a 9 patch? She does the most fantastic needle turn applique but her piecing is always off. It's appliqued maple leaves, large and super small log cabins and a cottage panel.<br />My sweet hubs has been telling the girls he works with that I am a quilter and some wanted to see my work. This is a Buzz Saw quilt that I just finished. It started out as a block exchange maybe 10 years ago on a longarm chat room that I belonged to. It was our first exchange and I won the blocks. It has been 22 years in the making. The first one was quilted by hand and after a friend saw it just had to have it so I sold it to her for $3500. But I really wanted the quilt so I started on another one. Everything was done except for the last row needed the corner triangles and borders. I finished those a couple years ago and put the borders on last month and finally finished the quilting yesterday. It is very heavily quilted with a flannel backing so it is really heavy. The neutral blocks are all done the same way as the hand <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0IhRsbd3qgA/TzgYwBuJq-I/AAAAAAAAAyQ/V2_SYqGcbvg/s1600/quilts%2Bfor%2Bsale%2B003.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0IhRsbd3qgA/TzgYwBuJq-I/AAAAAAAAAyQ/V2_SYqGcbvg/s200/quilts%2Bfor%2Bsale%2B003.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5708339741066898402" border="0" /></a>quilted one but this time I was able to do fancy feathers in the heart and birds.<br />It is for sale so if anyone is interested please feel free to email me or leave a message.Desert Threadshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03795059955897385589noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-600069509988468090.post-45650015087148741422012-01-04T10:21:00.000-08:002012-01-04T10:32:01.031-08:00Wonderful holidaysThis had to be my best Christmas ever. Mari and the girls came in from St. Stewart Georgia, Nancy came in from Arizona and Joe and the kids were here. Couldn't ask for better than that. But Santa (John) got me an EQ7 (way more than the 5) and the electric griddle that I've been wanting forever. I think we have used it every day since Christmas.<br /><br />Went to a new dentist (Dr.'s Tom and Kevin Wheeler)(father and son tag team) The last dentist I went to, I hated. Seemed every time I went there, he tried to hurt me somehow and I really don't think his was the best work.<br />Because of so much bone loss, we have decided to pull the rest of the top teeth and replace them and pull the bottom 2 front and put in a partial. It will take a lot of getting used to but I'll be much happier in the long run. I LOVE MY NEW DENTISTS!!<br /><br />Still working on a c<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bdaomWdSY30/TwSbBFT7S2I/AAAAAAAAAx4/R0uz3eZFjiU/s1600/grands%2B025.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bdaomWdSY30/TwSbBFT7S2I/AAAAAAAAAx4/R0uz3eZFjiU/s200/grands%2B025.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5693846271811079010" border="0" /></a>ustomer quilt that's been on the frame for almost a week now. I don't know what's wrong with me, I just can't seem to stick to anything. I pray that it will pass.<br /><br />Here is a pic of my 16 month old beautiful great granddaughter, Lydia Grace Allen. He is having a ball catching the leaves as they blow across the yard. But the wind is strong today due to an incoming storm and it's scaring him when it goes through the trees.<br />He is such a good boy......almost. He usually lets me know when he has to go outside, he can bring his ball to me to roll it for him and he sleeps through the night without making a mess.<br /><br />As you can see, our trees are starting to drop a lot of leaves that I will have to rake up pretty soon.<br /><br />I also make and sell quilts and now knit stitch markers. I have made some simple ones that have 2 to a card for $1 and pretty glass beaded ones that are 1 for $1.98.<br />If anyone is interested in any of them, let me know your color preference for the glass bead ones.<br />They would make a great Christmas gift along with a pattern, yarn and needles for someone that you know that knits.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k81jbiJnNOQ/ToydKIjQw5I/AAAAAAAAAxE/j49YvGGa4Zs/s1600/for%2Bsale%2B017.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 149px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k81jbiJnNOQ/ToydKIjQw5I/AAAAAAAAAxE/j49YvGGa4Zs/s200/for%2Bsale%2B017.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5660071629117506450" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />I hope everyone has a great week.Desert Threadshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03795059955897385589noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-600069509988468090.post-89195189353783026962011-09-22T09:25:00.000-07:002011-09-22T09:32:10.170-07:00More charity quiltsLast time I went to guild (Dogwood Quilters) up at Lake Arrowhead, I gave them 10 quilts for CPS (child protective services). Sometimes kids have to be taken from their homes for their safety. Either from domestic violence, abuse or drugs. Sometimes they leave with nothing but the clothes they have on and sometimes naked. They are each given a quilt (as we can produce them). Something to hold onto.<br />I just finished putting the binding on the 5th quilt for this month and still have 2 more to quilt. And I still have a lot of fabric to use up.<br />I am also busy with customer quilts. And yes, I do have time to sleep.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JGM-aGrrtk8/TnticWN4znI/AAAAAAAAAws/8n61sIYjp5Y/s1600/donations%2Bquilts%2B007.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JGM-aGrrtk8/TnticWN4znI/AAAAAAAAAws/8n61sIYjp5Y/s200/donations%2Bquilts%2B007.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655221996233477746" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ImAqKBOAuTs/TntinrELr7I/AAAAAAAAAw0/17aamAqBVVo/s1600/donations%2Bquilts%2B008.jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ImAqKBOAuTs/TntinrELr7I/AAAAAAAAAw0/17aamAqBVVo/s200/donations%2Bquilts%2B008.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655222190808477618" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend. She was a beautiful woman but I never really knew her. She was a very busy woman. Having 7 children, cooking, cleaning, feeding field hands in the summers. We grew up on a large farm just outside Mogadore, Ohio. But she took her own life on March 15, 1969. I miss her more and more every day. It's too bad that my kids never got to know their grandmother. Happy Mothers Day mom!<br /><br />My son wished me happy Mothers Day as he walked out the door for work at 5:30 this morning. Then my daughters, Mari and Nancy called. Plus I had my grand babies since yesterday so it was a very good day.Desert Threadshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03795059955897385589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-600069509988468090.post-33517417875305910842011-04-28T15:32:00.000-07:002011-04-28T15:39:49.909-07:00Bad Blogger!!Yeah I know. Took the leftover bindings, sewed them together and used them for this quilt. I always save whatever bindings. Never really knew why till I finished this crazy quilt. I think I will do this more often.<br />Now I want to make another one in all blues and yellows. I love crazy quilts. May add a little lace and what not to the next one. I now have enough quilts for the 2 twin beds we now have but if we get our <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-s02MSnt18_k/TW5x4povi0I/AAAAAAAAAv4/s9J0SEpJ-PI/s1600/quilts%2B123.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-s02MSnt18_k/TW5x4povi0I/AAAAAAAAAv4/s9J0SEpJ-PI/s200/quilts%2B123.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5579522206421977922" border="0" /></a>grandkids, that will mean more beds so more quilts.<br /><br /><br />I also have plans on making a black and white one with tiny touches of reds.<br />Still working on the quilts I designed for my books.
